Here, we present some remarkable places and monuments related to Jose Rizal.

1.    Rizal Shrine, Calamba

Rizal Shrine is located in Rizal's birthplace. You can read about his childhood experiences and some of his European travels here. One of the shrine's biggest attractions is the 'Bahay na Bato,' or copy of his residence. The bones of Rizal's parents, Teodora and Francisco, can be seen on the shrine's lawn, as well as statues of young Rizal and his dog Verguenza built to honor Rizal's centenary death anniversary.

2.    Rizal Monument, Calamba

The monument was built to commemorate Rizal's 150th birthday and rises at 43 feet tall, making it the world's second highest Rizal statue. Rizal is seen in the statue clutching a book in his right hand. The 15-step stairway reflects 15 decades, and the statue's height depicts the 22 dialects and languages he can speak.

3.    Rizal Park

Luneta Park is one of the country's most well-known locations. It is known as the site of Rizal's firing squad execution and contains a 42-foot-high hero's monument. A black granite wall with Rizal's 'Mi Ultimo Adios' (My Last Farewell) inscription and bronze tableaux figures depicting his final moments flank the monument.

4.    Fort Santiago

Rizal was imprisoned in Fort Santiago in Intramuros before being executed in 1896. Fort Santiago is now a national park with remains and some of Rizal's personal belongings. Footprints detailing Rizal's final walk from his cell to his execution place have been imprinted on the earth of Fort Santiago.

5.    Dapitan

The Jose Rizal Memorial Protected Landscape, also known as Rizal Park and Shrine, is where José Rizal was exiled from 1892 to 1896. This site now houses the Rizaliana Museum, as well as statues of Rizal and Ferdinand Blumentritt, as well as Rizal's correspondence and clothing. There's also a collection of reconstructed nipa huts built by Rizal, including Casa Residencia, which served as Rizal's residence and where his mother and sisters stayed during their visit; Casa Redonda, which served as Rizal's student quarters; Casa Cuadrada, which served as Rizal's workshop and secondary dormitory; and Casitas de Salud, which served as health houses.
